I was born!!
When every child is brought into this world it impacts the people around the child (parents, siblings...), and also the child him/herself. I am not an exception, for me it was also a very impactful moment even though I do not remember it very clearly. It was the time when I first experienced air, the warmth of the earth, the love from my parents and others around me. I believe later on my being born will be not only significant to me but also to others that I come across in life. -
First Time Walking
For many people crawling is the first way of getting around, however the most impactful moment for me was not crawling but walking. To be able to walk, you experience a totally different view of things and get you to places quicker compared to when you are crawling. Also, even though it is not a memory that is as clear as the night sky to me, it is one that I know my parents will never forget and something that I know that helped me become who I am today. -
First Words
When you are little, usually the only words you can manage to mutter is “goo goo gaga”. However, when the first understandable word comes out of your mouth, it can make your parents cry out of joy and they will be proud that their child is growing up. It is how you communicate with others in everyday life, without it life would be dull and difficult. Thus, I believe learning to speak was a very important event for me because this event helped me develop the communications skills I have today. -
Learned how to ride a 2-wheel bike
Grasping the concept of riding a 2 wheel bike is a phase that every child experiences, it was the same for me. After falling down multiple of times, I continued to persevere until I mastered how to ride the bike without my dad holding onto the back of it. I felt a sense of accomplishment then that is one that I cannot describe, but I will remember for the rest of my life. Hence, this is a significant event because it taught me the importance of perseverance and many other things. -
Moving to a new elementary school
This event was impactful to me because after getting used to the environment at my first elementary school, suddenly I had to adapt to an entirely new one. Even though some of my friends were transferring with me, it was still scary to step into a school where everything is new to you. However, after settling in, it helped shape who I am today and let me meet many new people who educated me in many different ways. -
Learning a new language (French)
I believe learning a completely new language for the first time is scary yet exciting. It is a significant event for me because I gained new knowledge on a culture/ language I was totally alien to before. After I was able to understand simple sentences, like "comment cava?” I felt a sense of accomplishment, one that you get once you master riding a bike. In result, this event was impactful to me because it enabled me to learn something new and enhance my knowledge about the world. -
Falling off a bike with Pinky
During my grade 8 year, Pinky and I decided to ride on one bike together down a steep pavement hill. The result was not a good one, Pinky’s foot got caught on the wheel and we ending up flipping off the bike onto the pavement floor. The good thing was that we were both not seriously injured, but this event taught me to always think before I act. Therfore, this is an significant event because it was one of the most dangerous things I have ever done and one I will not easily forget. -
Graduated from Elementary School to High School
I remember I was super nervous on the first day of High school, I knew many people because I was going to my local High school hence many of my friends from elementary were going to the same place. However, it was still nerve racking because the environment and customs were very different from what I was used to. But, it was very impactful also because it was a place where you knew you were sure to learn new things, meet new people, and start to walk the path to adulthood. -
Trip to Hong Kong
My trip to Hong Kong last summer was one where I experienced many news things - I went to new places, tried new types of food, spent time with a Pinky half way across the world, and many more. This trip was one that I will remember for the rest of my life, the places that Pinky brought me to and the many new experiences that this trip gave to me is one that I will treasure forever. Hence, it was a trip that is significant and has impacted my life forever.
