My name is Akria Hiro, I am from Japan, I am 30 years old. I am a very successful farmer. Japan is currnetly at war with the Chinese, they are fighting over land. I will have to leave Japan to go to America because the conditions in the Japan are awful.
-
I sold all of my belongings as fast as possible so that I could go to America. I am going to Hawaii with no money.
-
Two days after I arrived at Hawaii I got a job, I work at a grocery store. I will continue to work at that grocery store for a few weeks until I save up enough money to buy a ticket to go to Washington.
-
I saved up enough money to leave Hawaii. When I went to buy the tickets I was ripped off becasue I was charged six dollars more than other immigrants.
-
In the mainland there is this thing called 'mail', I never heard about it in Hawaii before, but it seems very useful. Maybe I can send a letter to my cousin, Yuto, he told me were he was going to live in the United States.
-
I own farm land now, but I am getting bad news about the government. They are trying to inforce an act in which non-white Americans cannot own land or enroll in a skilled occupation.
-
The Alien Land Laws prevent non-white Americans from buying or owning land and enrolling in skilled occupations. These laws were passed in Washington, California and many other states iin the west.
-
Two years later the Americans passed the Alien Land Laws. My American dream has been crushed. Now what do I do? From what I am hearing, Japan is in horrible condition so I can't go back to Japan.
-
The number of Japanese Farms in the United States have dropped massively. I don't want to work in a store again, they pay from the previous grocery store was horrible, and I can't enroll in a skilled occupation.
