    Aurangzeb was Mughal emperor waging war and not caring about his people. He had no loyalty from his people. He casually gave away the port of bombay to European traders. This is what helped Europeans conquer India later on.

    Wealthy Britsh people began buying up a lot of land and had agriculture grown there. They found new and better ways for agriiculture to grow better and faster.Tthis was known as the agriculturral revolution.

    Robert Clive led east India company troops to a big victory over Indian forces allied with the French at the battle of Plassey. This victory made east India company the leading power of India for the next 100 years.

    India was falling apart and Britan saw the oppertunity. The British destroyed the French troops and seized control of India. Soon Britan expanded their territory and had India under its full control.

    The sepoys thought that the British had greased their gun cartillages with pork fat. Sepoys were furious so they rebelled.Then the Indians captured Delhi and more of India. They continued rebelling. This was known as sepoy munity.

    Muslim league is created to protect Muslim interests. Muslim did not want to be a part of hindu party so they wanted their own, This was the Muslim league.

    Ghandhi was a leader of the Indian Independance movement. He fought unjust things with religion and prayer and not violance. He excepted all religions and soon had many followers. He helped make decisons in the INC.

    The British puts the Rowlett Acts into affect. Indians went to fight for Britan in World War 1 and were promised self-government and more. The British lied so the Indians prtested. This act simply said all protesters can be put in jail for up to two years with out trial.

    The british put takes on salt for Indians and limited where they could buy their salt and it was only from the government. Ghandi protested by taking Indians to the sea coast and they took salt water and let it evaporte to make their own salt. This was known as the salt march. To get to the coast the Indians had to walk 240 miles.

    Government passes this act and allows self- government. It limited democratic elections, but not total independance. This made tension between Hindus and Muslims about control.

    Britan passes an act to seperate India in two seperate nations. A Hindu and a Muslim nation. They did this because fights were breaking out about who would control one or the other so the Muslims proposed that partition or seperation be in use.

    Muslims propose to Britan this act so that the fighting between Hindus and Muslims would stop. Partition meant to divide the nation up which they did into Pakistan and India.

    They were granted their Independance from Britan and everyone had to decide where to go. The police and the princes for example had to choose India or Pakistan.

    Ghandhi hated seeing all these people dieing but mainly Muslims were being killed. Ghandi went to Delhi to find fairness and protest. A Hindu extrimist thought Ghandhi was too protective of the Muslims and killed him.

    This was when Hindus and Muslims got together and relaxed listened to music and had speeches. British viewed this as a threat because the hindus and muslims were together discussing news so Britan opened fire without warning. They killed 400 Indians and wouned 1,200.
