    Vasco De Gama Sails for India

    Vasco sailed around the East coast of Afric. Then he arrived in the Coast of Calcicut and was ammazed by all the spices and rare silks.
  • Decline of the Mughal Empire

    Drained of natural resources, two million people died of famine. Then the Western traders slowly build power in Indian region
  • Industrial Revolution in Britian

    Because of the large population, many of the Indians could harvest the natural resources of the Inidan Islands
  • Sepoys Rebellion

    Rumor that the new Enfiel Rifle was greased with pork and cow fat the Sepoys were outraged. This was because the Indians thought of the cow and pig as being sacred.

    The British took direct conrol of India. The 'Raj' then took conrol because of the rebellion and the Sepoys

    When Inida wanted to have self-goverment, the INC had a rival against the Muslim League. They then split the land amongst themselvs

    When India wanted independance the people of India came up with the idea of the Muslim League. Their purpose was to protect the interests of the Muslims. They felt the Hindu Congress party only looked out for the Hindus
  • Amritsar Massacre

    When the people of India wanted to protest against the Rowlett Acs, about 10,000 joined in at the protest. Then the British soliders shot into the crowd without warning. 400 died, and 1,200 were wounded.
  • Mohands Gandhi's Leadership of the INC

    After the massacre at Amristar Mohands Gandhi started a group that practiced no violence. He tought from the points of many religons including Islam, Hinduism, and Chritianity
  • Gandhi's Travels Stressing Nonviolent Rresisteance

    Gandhi brought the teachings of many religons, and also brought peace. some of the acomplishments were the Salt March, 21 day fast to protest against the war between the Muslims and the Hindus and also to protest against Great Britain no allowing India to be free, and The greatest accomplishment of Gandhi was his life-long fight for the independence of India. His dream for his country's independence finally became reality on August 15, 1947.
  • The Salt March

    The Salt Tax essentially made it illegal to sell or produce salt, allowing a complete British monopoly. Since salt is necessary in everyone's daily diet, everyone in India was affected. The Salt Tax made it illegal for workers to freely collect their own salt from the coasts of India, making them buy salt they couldn't really afford. So the people had a 240 mile walk and made thier own salt.
  • Goverment of India Act

    After the Salt March the British goverment was losing money fast. So they sent troops to attack the protesters who were making their own salt.
  • WWII- Riots betweem Muslims and Hindus

    When the Hindus and Muslims started riots they came up with the idea of a partition. This seperated them. Over 5,000 died, and 15,000 got hurt.

    The partiton was the term given to the division of Inida that seperated Hindu and Muslim nations.
  • Inida/Pakistan Independance

    In a months time many of the princeshad to select which nation they wanted to join. also all of the people of that region had to select where they wanted to live.
  • Gandhi's Death

    When Gandhi went down to Dehli, he pleaded for fair treatment of Muslim Réfugié. while there he was shot because a Hindu thought he was too protective.
