    A healthy thing for an expecting mother to do is excercise and eat healthy. Good ways to excericse would be to swim or to walk. On page 11 it says, "Moderate exercise is helpful as it improves the mother’s mental state and can increase oxygen flow to the fetus". This is why excercise is important for proper growth of the baby.

    The book says, "Drinking can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, includ- ing symptoms like low birth weight, medical problems, and be- havior abnormalities.". Once you find out that you are pregnant it is important to stop drinking alcohol because it has serious affects on the mother and the growing child.

    A very important thing to do to make sure your baby will be healthy is to eat healthy. It says, "Lack of folic acid can cause birth defects.". It is necessary to consume more folic acid when you are pregnant because it could give your child birth defects.
  • Long term effects

    An important thing to consider when having a baby as a teenager is the long term effects it will have on you and your family. It says, "Long-term effects include lack of education of both the parents and child." Having a kid as a teenager you are highly unlikely prepared to support it. Most teenage moms never finish their education because they are so busy that they do not have the time or money too.
  • Specific time

    Someone I know got pregnant as a teenager and it has effected her life. Her family helps out with her daughter and she graduated high school last year and is now in college. She has had a ton of support from her family and coaches that this was easier for her to do. She was lucky to have had the support she got.
