The UN suggestedd that Palestine be divided into a Jewish state and an Arab state. However, Arabs were not willing to give any land up to the Jews. -

Upset about losing land to the Jews, Arabs sent military forces into Israel. Many Arabs left the country. -
War of Suez Canal
Britain, France, and Israel invaded Egypt for the Suez Canal. But later, Israel withdrew. -
PLO is created
The PalestineLiberation Organization wanted to set up a Palestinian State. To reach their goal they launched guerrilla attacks. -
Six Day War
This war only lasted 6 days. In the end Israel made territorial gains. -
Yom Kippur War
Syria and Egypt attempt to win back the land they lost during the six day war. The UN negotiated to stop the fighting. -
Egypt gets the Sinai Peninsula Back From Israel
Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty. Isreal withdraws their troops from the Sinai peninsula. -
First Intifada
Palestinians were fed up with Israeli rule. In retalliation the Israeli's arrested and exiled many Palestinians. -
Road Map for Peace
Hirschfeld, Pundik, and Aba Alaa set up meetings to talk about peace. Later they made their thoughts pulic.
