Born in the wee hours of June 23, 1992, I made my way out of my mother no more than ten minutes after 12am. I was born Melat M. Begashaw from Mekonnen Begashaw and Mertalem Takele, as the second daughter to the family.

The family's first house was bought right in the middle of the Valley. Sometimes I wish we never moved out here...but who knows what I would have been like if I didn't...

...where I had a billion crushes! To think that I actually went to this school makes me chuckle.
-
Little did I know then that I was actually going to stay here for the next eight years...

A sad day in history :/ I remember being in homeroom, watching the news on TV. I will never forget it. I had no idea what the World Trade Center was, but I realized America would never be the same.

This vacation will NEVER be beat. I had the absolute best time in Ethiopia. Thanks to my Aunt Martie and all of her VIP treatment in Addis, my family and I were shown the time of our lives.
-
One of the best times of my life, and it definitely was because of the people I spent it with. I roomed with Marianna, Irene, Erica, and Sloane. SO MANY MEMORIES! Memories that will last a lifetime.

A fun filled week where I saw friends everyday and met new people.

One of the BEST times of my life! An educational experience that changed my life. I met some of the best people. It was also an a program for African American students, so I was able to relate to everyone there!

AKA Akuye Kiya. My grandmother came from Ethiopia to visit us for about five months. It was a great time. I miss her terribly. She is SO cute!
-
It was a goal of mine to work here...and I accomplished it.
-
The most anticipated year of my life!
-
...in other words, THE BEST DAY EVER! I can not wait for this day to come. It is the highest anticipated day ever. I CAN NOT WAIT!
-
THE month which in my fate is decided. UCLA or no UCLA? Ugh :/

I plan to get married by 27 years of age if not when I AM 27. This is the perfect age of settling down!

I must wait at least a year or two before I have a child with my husband. After that alone time spent together after marriage, I want a baby, no later than thirty.
