  • Sequoyah

    Sequoyah created a written language called a ''syllabary'' which made it possible for Cherokee to write English into Cherokee.The ability to write led to the establishment of a Cherokee newspaper,''The Cherokee Phoenix'' which printed the news in both English and Cherokee,which helped Natives understand the paper.   • Cotton Gin

    The''Cotton Gin'' was invented by Eli Whitney to pick cotton seeds out of the cotton,and the production of slaves increased,so people could get more picked cotton.In 1793,Eli Whitney made a machine called a cotton gin,after his invention the South was called''The land of the Cotton'', because lots of cotton was produced in the South which led to a stronger economy.   • Land Lotteries

    In 1803,Governor John Milledge called the legislature into a special session to pass a new land policy.All new land was surveyed.More lotteries were held,because lots of people needed land,granting away the rest of GA's public lands,Land lotteries made Georgia expand. Source:New GA Textbook
  • Creek Removal

    The most immediate loss of land for Creek as a result of the the war was the 1814 tract described in the Treaty of Fort Jackson.William McIntosh was a negotiator for the Creek in the first Treaty of Indian Springs.In that treaty,the Creek gave up their land between the Ocunglee and the Flint Rivers which led to no land.   • Railroads

    In 1832,businessman from many GA cities built railroads to transport cotton due to poor road conditions.The other railroads lines combined with this point causing the state to grow.Railroads gave more trading opportunities which led to a stronger economy.
  • Dahlonega Gold Rush

    Gold was found in Dahlonega and people rushed to settle the land and get it.All of the land belonged to the Natives,and the Natives forced the settlers off the land. Source:New GA Textbook
