  • Khoisan Raids Cattle

    Khoisan Raids Cattle
    Native Khoisans raid the Dutch farmers cattle. About 40 cattle have been recorded.
  • Small Pox

    Small Pox
    An outbreak of small pox breaks out in the colony. It kills 25% of the whites there and almost decimates the natives that have never been exposed to the disease.

    First Missonary
    A missonary arives at the Cape and brings the Protestant religon to the natives.

    During this time, the British hold South Africa for the second time in South Africa's history.
  • Khoisan Rebelion

    Khoisan Rebelion
    From 1799-1802 Khoisan rise up againist the colonial government but fail.
  • British takes the Cape

    Bristish take control of the Cape for a second time from the Dutch.
  • British Bans Slave Imports

    The British ban all incoming slaves to the Cape but slavery is still legal there.
  • The Abolition Act

    The British pass the Abolition Act which abolishes the sustem of slavery, but makes a new labour system so that the slave based exonomy doesn't collapse.
  • AmaXhosa Natives

    1834- 1835 The native tribe AmaXhosa rebels against the British rule and losses. The British decimaate the villages and food, putting the AmaXhosa into poverty.

    British take South Africa and make into a colony officially and hold it until the South African War where the natives gain their independance.
  • Paul Kruger's Election

    Paul Kruger's Election
    First time in 10 years, an election is held and Paul Kruger wins.
  • Johannes Strijdom is born

    The future Prime Minister of South Africa, Johannes G. Strijdom is born.
  • Paul Kruger's Wife Dies

    Paul Kruger's Wife Dies
    Paul Kruger's wife, Gezina Susanna Frederika Wilhelmina, dies in Pretoria.
  • Paul Kruger Dies

    Paul Kruger dies of a cardiac arrest and is buried next to his late wife.
  • Indian Resistance

    The first batch of Indian passive resisters, consisting of 12 men and 4 women (including Mrs. Kasturba Gandhi) are arrested at Volksrust and imprisoned in Pietermaritzburg.

    South African Congress
    South Africa makes the its first National Congress.
  • New Government

    The nw Prime Minister, J.G. Strijdom, forms his new government.
  • Sharpeville Massacre

    Sharpeville Massacre
    Different groups of students form a riot outside and the police shot down on the arguing students. The bloodiest massacre in the history of South Africa takes place in Sharpeville resulting in the Sharpeville Massacre. 69 men, women, and children are killed in the shooting and about 200 are wounded.

    South Africa joins other leaders across the continent in declaring the 21st century an African century.
  • The Year of Volunteering

    The government announces that it is The Year of Volunteering.
  • New Government

    The new Prime Minister, J.G. Strijdom, forms his new government.
