This is my second letter in the last two weeks. I suppose you have received one by this time. I have not heard a word from the U.S since I left America. I hope you are well and enjoying good health. I never felt any better in all my life, of course, I would rather be at home. This is a swell day- what there is left of it. It seems to rain about every ten minutes, then brightens up again.

Your dear letter arrived yesterday and it sure did bring a bright ray of sunshine. I know you do not write much, so I will not scold you. I am glad you are well and enjoying good health. I am feeling fine only a little lonesome for the dear ones at home. I am going to try very hard to get a pass for two weeks from today. That is a long time away but, it is the best I can do. I can get a ten-hour pass, but what is the use of going out just to walk around.

Just a few lines to let you know “Your Boy” is still well and enjoying the best of health. It is a great comfort to me to know that you are well and comfortable at home.I have seen old French people coming back to their old homes, all shell torn and destroyed, then seem very happy that they have been spared and are all smiles when they see a bunch of Samies, they wave their hands to them and wish them good Luck.Uncle Sam is sure doing great big things “overhere” and old Keiser Bill knows it.

Things have changed a lot. I have two blankets Orders to get out for examination. I am back in the sleeping quarters for awhile they are examining Board M 4. now.
