He went to pray and meditte, and one day, when he was vout 40 years old, where he met an angel, who is believed that God had talked through, making Muhammad into a prophet. He later spreads this religion, called Islam to Mecca.

The Arabs attacked the Berbers, a nativegroup of North Africans. The Berbers resisted at first, but they were overcomed. Eventually they converted. The Arabs and the Berebers joined force and led an attack on Spain and won. Then the muslims led the army up towards France, but was stopped by a Christian army.

Ghana collapses due to several reasons. The Almoravids invaded, cutting creating new trade routes that bypass Ghana. Although they did not rule for long, without trade, Ghana could not support itself. The Almoravid also bought huge herds that overgraze, destroying much of Ghana's fertile soil. Then the conquered people rebelled.

The mongols attempt to invade a 2nd time after their first defeat in 1274. Again, a storm comes and sinks many of the Mongol’s ship, forcing them to flee.

In 1324, Mansa Musa, the greatest of the Mali rulers went on a pilgrimage. He passed through many cities, going with a caravan of slaves and spent and gave generously wherever he went. Through his hajj, Mali and the rest of West Africa gained fame as a rich region and Islam spread.

The Mongol army invaded Japan and lost. Wih its weakened military, the Chinese rebelled. A former monk named Zhu Yuangzang took charge of the rebel army and led it. after Zhu Yuangzang defeated the Mongol army, he became the emperor and found the Ming dynasty

Thinking that Cortés, the leader of the conquistadors was the god Quetzalcoatl, Moctezuama, offered him many gifts. However, Cortés wanted more, so he captured Moctezuma. This angered the Aztec and they bascially started fighting. Moctezuma, the emperor of the Aztec died in the battle. Cortés came back later with angry neighbors and more supplies nad conquered the Aztecs. They had better weapons nad horses, which the Aztecs had never seen and were scared of as well as soread deadly disease.

The Incan empire engaged in a civil war where two brothers whom father had died. Atahualpa, one of the brother was victorious. On his way to be crowned, he met Pizarro who attacked and kidnapped Atahualpa. A large ransom of gold and silver was paid, but in the end, Atahualpa was still killed. Some of the Incas got mad and attacked Pizarro, but were defeated. In the end, Pizarro conquered the Incan empire with his 180 men.

West African sculptures has been admired and part of museums. They were used for religious rituals and were supposedly never to be seen. African artists were respected and in the 1900s, the sculpture even inspired European artist such as Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.
