    Ottomans seized Constantinople

    Constantinople was conquered by the Ottomans under the order of Mehmed II. Constantinople was imperial, and had been attacked before many times. However, the Ottomans finally broke down their walls. The conquest lasted nearly a month.

    Columbus sailed to the Americas

    Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic, from 1492 to 1502. He was looking for a direct water route to Asia, but made it to the Americas instead. His journeys were the beginning of colonization in North and South America. He sails from Spain in his three ships: the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.

    Treaty of Tordesillas

    A treaty that Spain and Portugal signed that created a line. Spain could not take any land west of the line, and Portugal got the land to the east.

    First Slaves to America

    The first recorded date of the arrival of slaves in North America dates back to 1502. Juan de Cordoba sent several black slaves from Spain to Hispaniola.

    Martin Luther

    Martin Luther was a German monk and didn't like how the Roman church was abusing their power. He posted a 95 theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenburg, Germany. This theses included that the Bible is the religious authority and salvation can only be reached by faith, and not deeds. The 95 theses would be the start of the Protestant Reformation.

    Cortez conquered the Aztecs

    Hernan Cortez led 450 soldiers to Mexico for gold. They found the Aztec capital on Lake Texaco and fought with the Aztecs until they surrendered. his conquest brought Mexico under Spanish rule.

    Mughal Empire begins

    The Mughal Empire was started by Babbar, but the leader was Akbar. The empire was very important because it encompassed almost all of India and use its weapons in invasions.

    Pizarro conquered the Incas

    The Spanish explorer Pizarro invaded the Incan empire seeking riches. He conquered the territory quickly, claiming gold, silver, and other treasures.

    Council of Trent

    Prompted by the Reformation the Council of Trent had an impact on the Roman Catholic doctrine. It changed the discipline of the church, and that every diocese provide proper education and give more attention to preaching.
  • Tokugawa Shogunate in Japan begins

    The Tokugawa Shogunate was the feudal military government in Japan from 1600-1868. They were regarded as the final period of Japanese traditional government. The primary goal of the military was to keep Christianity out of Japan. 300,000 Japanese Christians were persecuted.
  • 30 Years War

    The 30 Years War began as a religious war between the Protestants and Roman Catholics in Germany. This led to an imbalance in Europe. The war took out a large portion of the German population,destroyed crops, aided in the spread of disease, and ruined a large part of Germany's economy.
  • John Locke

    John Locke was a English philosopher and is known for known for his 3 fundamental rights, "life liberty, and property." He believed the most basic human law is the preservation of mankind.
  • Peter the Great travels to Europe

    Peter claimed many territories such as: Estonia, Lativa, and Finland, and he got access to the Black Sea after fighting with Turkey. He travelled to Europe to learn about shipbuilding and navigation. He was determined to reform the domestic structure of Russia, and push into the Modern era.
  • Maroon Wars

    The first Maroon war was a conflict between the Maroons and British authorities that lasted until 1739. British militia were becoming more aggressive towards the Maroons.
