    The southerners were upset with Native Americans such as Seminole Indians because they were helping runaway slaves. President Monroe sent Andrew Jackson to secure the border, instead he captured the Seminole raiders. This act was unconstitutional because Jackson went against the president. Both Spain and the US agreed upon the Adams-Onis Treaty. Soain gained Texas and the US gained Florida.

    To annex something is to take control of land and incorperate it into a country or a state, etc. The US wanted to to moved to Texas for all of the land, 67,000 acres of land for every 200 families. The Mexican government was making southerners who moved to Texas to become Mexican citizens, obey Mexican laws, and support the Roman Catholic Church.Texas became a republic (independent nation) by forcing mexico to sign a treaty. The Texas economy was very bad after the battle with Mexico.
