The Declaration of Independence was a statement of the second continental congress that defined the colonists rights, outlined their complaints against Great Britain and declared the colonies independence. The American Revoloution lasted nine years and destroyed out nations economy because of all the supplies we needed to buy. -

a belief chared by many Americans that the United States was meant to expand across the continent to the Pacific Ocean. They felt that god gave them the right. -

During Thomas Jefferson's presidency he bought Louisana for 15 million dollars because he didn't was France to control New Orleans. The Mississippi river and the city of New Orleans is very important to the United States economy because it is used for trade. The Lousiana purchase almost doubled the size of the United States, -
Adams-Onis Treaty
The southerners were upset with Native Americans such as Seminole Indians because they were helping runaway slaves. President Monroe sent Andrew Jackson to secure the border, instead he captured the Seminole raiders. This act was unconstitutional because Jackson went against the president. Both Spain and the US agreed upon the Adams-Onis Treaty. Soain gained Texas and the US gained Florida. -
Oregon Territory
Originally shared control between Great Britain, Russia, Spain, and the United States. The United States were trying to avoid another war and the US and Great Brtiain both wanted to be able to the use the Columbia River so they signed a treaty. Oregon and Washington are the states that were created out of this today. -
Mexican Cession
The main issue that the US and Mexico argued over that led to the Mexican-American War was the annexation of Texas. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo is the treaty that ended the Mexican-American War. -
Gadsden Purchase
The United States bought thisn land to avoid another war. The United States paid 10 million dollars for what today is Arizona and New Mexico. With the Gadsden purchase continental bounderies were fixed and manifest destinty was complete because the US traveled so far and expanded so much land. -
Texas Annexation 1
To annex something is to take control of land and incorperate it into a country or a state, etc. The US wanted to to moved to Texas for all of the land, 67,000 acres of land for every 200 families. The Mexican government was making southerners who moved to Texas to become Mexican citizens, obey Mexican laws, and support the Roman Catholic Church.Texas became a republic (independent nation) by forcing mexico to sign a treaty. The Texas economy was very bad after the battle with Mexico. -
Texas Annexation 2
The United States wouldn't let Texas become a state because it would have been joinded as a slave state and then the south could over power the north and make slavery legal.
