A Polis is a lot like a county. It is a mass of land that includes people. They are different in size. This means that all the people would come to gather for not only politics, but for economic, social, and cultural activities. Everyone in the polis had rights, but they also had responsibilities they had to tend to.

Spartans might be one of the most well known things about Greek, at least in today's day and age. They were very strict and enforced laws. They wanted to be as stable as possible. They became very populated and started to look to expand. The Spartans would be considered very cruel in the world today. The the newborn babies did not seem fit to live they left them to die.

The Greeks started to move from their homelands to settle in distant land. In fact, it was a large number of people that let. There were a lot of factors when it came to them leaving. There was extreme overpopulation, poverty, and the development of trade were all factors. most of the new settlements were trading posts. In all reality, the movement of all the people helped the Greek with trade and taking more land. By about 550 BCE the majority of new colonization had stopped.

This war began because Athens and two of Spartas allies were in conflicts. Both allies said that if Sparta did not help they would back out of their league. So Sparta sent an ultimantum, The Athenians declined and that meant war. They both thought they had winning strategies. They both agreed to a truce for 50 years, but that did not settle the fighting. Over time the Spartans wore down the Athenians. Sparta had won this great war.

This time range was the fall of the Greeks. There was continued warfare and the leaders of Sparta shifting. They ended up taking full control of Greece. The Macedonians ended up taking control of Greece.

The Persians were a large empire to the east of Greece. The Persians first attack was a defeat for the Persians, only because their leader was killed. The Persians would not give up though. They set up one of the largest attacks the world had seen. They ended up getting outmaneuvered and defeated by the Greeks. This allow the Greece to set up one of the largest armies.
