    George Washington made this proclamation to declare that the war between Great Britain and France doesn't involve them. They are neutral to both countries and not on anybody's side.

    Jay Treaty
    The Jay Treaty is was about United States being not being involved in the war against France. The United States goal was to remain neutral. The American people did not really agree with this treaty, but it gave the US enough time to prepare for future endeavors.

    This is George Washington's letter for leaving office. He talks about political parties being nothing, but trouble and how he doesn't like them. He also preferred the US to not be involved in any type of war unless it directly involves them. This is exactly what he did with the Proclamation of Neutrality.

    Tecumseh's brother predicted a solar eclipse and this made a lot of people trust him and want to follow him and his brother. Indians from different tribes started to follow them and in 1811 William Henry Harrison and his troops tried destroying the village that Tecumseh and his brother were at. Tecumseh said not to fight back, but his brother, the Prophet, did not listen and they fought and lost. They left the village and Henry Harrison looked through it and burned it.

    Chesapeake-Leopard Affair
    The US ship, USS Chesapeake, was stopped by the British ship, the HMS Leopard. The British wanted to search the US ships because they thought the US had British troops hidden on the boat. The US said "no" and the British opened fire on them. The British killed 3 and injured 18 US sailors. They seized the boat regardless. This loss made Americans very upset.

    This act was to stop trading with both France and Great Britain. This was created by Jefferson because he wanted the US to be neutral and out of France and Britain's war. They were involved anyway, so he thought it was a good idea to stop importing and exporting goods with them. This backfired extremely and made American businesses and industries fall apart. The poor became poorer and lose their jobs. Economically, America was in a very bad state.

    These are politicians that are very young. They pressured James Madison to declare war on Great Britain. Henry Clay, the speaker of the House, said that both countries harmed them in some way, but Britain was worse. Britain being weird about trade and impressing US sailors were too much for America. They wanted to attack a British colony in Canada because Britain would probably listen to the US and make some agreement about what they are doing. Also, the US would be removing a threat.

    This started because of the neutral trade decision that Britain made and America wanted to build territory. This war started when the British were still at war with France. This was the first time that the US has ever declared war. Madison was upset at the fact the Native Americans were on Britain's side. I'm pretty sure that America ended up winning. War Hawks wanted to go to war, but the older people didn't agree with them

    Tecumseh got the rest of his and his brother's followers and sided with Britain. They were very helpful in destroying US soldiers, especially during the Seige of Detroit. The British and Native American troops both invaded Ohio. The US troops invaded Canada. The British and Native Americans had to leave after that. The US troops followed them and ended up killing Tecumseh.

    This was a secret Federalist meeting. Around 26 people attended. American delegates and British Federalists went to the meeting. They didn't see a point in being in war. There's more bad than good. Land could be stole and etc. They were also trying to get rid of the slave trade.

    The Treaty was about not being in war anymore. Both countries' representatives signed it and the war ended. The Great Lakes area was free for America to expand there.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    America and Britain fought again because Britain wanted to take over New Orleans. Americans were extremely outnumbered. It took a while for everyone to know about the war is over. Andrew Jackson led America to victory.
