William Hull was the governor of the US at the time. They declared war on Britain on July 12th 1812 and got ltters , but did notget the letters until July 2nd. In response he made the proclaimation on this day. The proclamation helped stiffen resistance to the American attacks.

Sir Isaac Brock successfully captured Detroit by creating an illusion of a bigger Canadian force with help from Tecumseh. He forced the America troops to surreneder and blocked their second attempt to invade Canada

After Canada already lost the Redan Battery. They went to Queenston Heights to recapture it. Brock ed his troops out first and was shot by an American soldier. British forces, Canadian militia, and First Nations warriors then rallied and drove back the Americans and forced about 1,000 to surrender.

On this day Americans forced he British and Native Americans to retreat from Frenchtown. This wa spart of a larger plan to head north and recaim Fort Detroit. Four days latter the British launched a counter attack. The highest number of Americans were killed in a single battle during the war of 1812.

Laura Secord heard the Americans talking about ambushing the British troops at Beaver Dams. Hearing this she went to go tell Lieutenant James FitzGibbon. This information helped the British be ahead and ambush the Americans first. They were successful in making 462 American men surrender and keep them from taking ove the Niagara peninsula.

Lieutenant Colonel Charles-Michel d'Irumberry de Salaberry raised a unit of light infantry known as the Canadian Voltigeurs. e thought the Americans would cross the Chateauguay River so he set up a blockde. He succeeded in creating the illusion that his force was much stronger than it actually was and discouraged the Americans. The British then went on to win this battle.

Andrew Jacksin didnt know the war was over and sent an army to New Orleans. This a huge victory where the US killed 700 British soliders and wonded 1400 while only losing 8 men.
