  • The Gadsden Purchase

    On this day, James Gadsden presented the modified treaty to the Mexican president, Antonio de Santa Anna. It was then signed by Santa Anna.
  • End of Westward Expansion

    Westward Expansion ended when Arizona was admitted into the Union as the last of the 48 contiguos states.
