    When Mayella testifies the whole town is put into shock. It is quite easy to tell she is lying, put she pulls peoples heart strings and gets the people of the jury to feel bad for her. Also, it makes Scout realize just how good she has it having a father like Atticus also you find out Mayella is abused by her father Bob.
  • Scout and Dill meet Dolphus Raymond

    When Scout and Dill meet Dolphus Raymond you see a new side of Maycomb. Dolphus is a sweet man who pretend to be a drunk just so he doesnt have to deal with the people of the town. Also he is openminded, which really sets him apart. The kids take alot away from their talk with him, such as bein accepting and the color of peoples skin doesnt matter.
  • Guilty verdict of Tom

    The guilty verdict of Tom really affects the kids. They feel let down, and that their sacrifice was for nothing. It was clear to them that Tom wasnt guilty, so why couldt everyone else see that?They were upset but Atticus tells them not to worry, although Tom is going to jail he file for an appeal.
  • Tom's death

    The news of Tom's death is not taken lightly, but it does help Scout grow as a person. As she is still at the party she learns to hold in her emotions and still be professional so no one will notice anything is wrong. This whole event washes over the town like a tidal wave.
  • Meeting Boo

    When Jem and Scout are attacked by Bob Ewell a malevolent phantom comes to their rescue. Scout finally gets to meet Boo and is amazed by the exsperience. He is very polite, and nice to her. Boo asks her to walk him home, as a sign of friendship. Something Scout will treasure forever.
  • Scout goes to school

    Scout is sent to school, where she is faced with a terrible teacher, Miss Caroline Fishes. Miss Carolinne tells Scout to stop reading and writing because she is doing it incorrectly. Scout tells Atticus, and he says they can continue reading, so long as Scout's teacher doesnt find out. This is where you first start to see that this is a very unique family.
  • Atticus shoots Tim Johnson

    Atticus reveals his true talent of being the best shot in Maycomb county, and this makes his children see him in a completely new light. They begin to realize that by not flaunting your talent you become even more talented. This event humbles the children and makes them proud of their father.
  • Scout saves Tom Robinson's life.

    Scout ends up saving Tom Robinsons life on accdient by connecting persoanllly with Walter Cunningham's father. She is such a naive little girl that her innoncence makes the men realize that what they are doing is wrong. This is a major turning point in the story because this is when things get serious.
  • Atticus agrees to defend Tom Robinson

    When Atticus agrees to defend Tom Robinson, he is agreeing to change his family's life forever. When Atticus announces this he brings alot of attention to himself and his children. This event forces alot of change and growing up to happen within a short amount of time.

    The children first start paying alot of attention to the Radley house. Also, they notice something may be going on when Mr.Nathan Radley fills in the hole in the tree so they can no longer communicate with Boo. Overall, this event sparks interest in Boo,
  • Miss Maudie's house burns down

    When Miss Maudies's house burns down you see the whole town of Maycomb come together, Also, Boo drapes the blanket around Scout without her knowing. When Atticus explains this to her, she realizes Boo is not a bad guy, the town has just made him out to be that way. This shows Scout start to grow up and not elieve everything she hears.
