To Kill a Mockingbird

  • Dill comes to Maycomb

    When Dill comes to Maycomb for the first time, questions of the Radley Place come to picture. The kids begin to ask around about Boo Radly. After some scary and mysterious stories, they set their goal at finding Boo every summer.
  • Scout Starts School

    At first, Scout does not like school at all. She is already knowledgeable and her teacher dislikes that. After a compromise with Atticus about reading with her, she continues to go.
  • Period: to

    The Radley Tree

    The kids find stuff in the Radley Tree. Scout and Jem find things like gum, a spelling medal, watch, knife, and even carvings of them in soap. After a while though, the tree is filled with cement.
  • Walter comes over for Dinner

    Scout invites Walter over for dinner to apologize for hitting him. When he pours syrup all over his food, Scout questions it rudely and gets very inconsiderate. Calpurnia tells her that Walter pours the syrup out of habit, and he shouldn't be judged for it.
  • Tom Robinson Arrested

    Tom, a black man, is accused of raping Mayella Ewell, a white woman. Mayella is the daughter of white trash Bob Ewell. Atticus, Scout and Jem's father, agrees to defend him in a trial.
  • Miss Maudie's house burns down

    Miss Maudie, a neighbor of the Finches, had her house burn down. The first day of snow in Maycomb rolled around and she lit a light to warm up her home. While standing outside, Boo silently wraps a blanket around Scout in the cold.
  • The Mad Dog

    Towards the end of winter, Scout and Jem were greeted by Tim Johnson's dog and discovered it had rabies. Atticus came back to the house with the sheriff Heck Tate and shot it. Shocked by the act, Scout and Jem learn that Atticus was the best shot in Maycomb when he was younger.
  • The Trial

    Atticus defends Tom Robinson on the account of rape. Clear evidence, or lack there of, gave a clear answer that Tom was innocent. However, the white jurists still gave the verdict of guilty.
  • Tom is Killed

    After the trial, Tom was sent to prison. Atticus reassured him that they would have a re-trial and he would be proven innocent. However, Tom had lost hope and tried to run. He was shot and killed trying to escape.
  • Bob Ewell attacks the Children

    Having lost all repectablility in the trial, Bob sought out to harass everyone invovled with it. He attacked Scout and Jem after a Halloween pageant in the dark. He broke Jem's arm and almost injured Scout. Boo Radley came and stabbed Bob, killing him. Heck Tate deemed his death a suicide.
