Calpurnia brings the kids to her church

Calpurnia takes Jem and Scout to the First Purchase Church where the kids meet Reverend Sykes.

Jem and Scout continue to find gifts in the Radley Tree

They find many gifts including a spelling medal, a pocket watch, a chain, and a knife.

Tom Robinson gets arrested

Nov 21, 1934

This is the day that Tom Robinson Robinson gets falsely arrested for raping Mayella Ewell (Bob Ewell's daughter).

Miss Maudie's house burns down.

Dec 17, 1934

As the Finches' neighbor Miss Maudie's burned down, Boo Radley put a blanket over Scout's shoulder when she and Jem weren't paying attention.

Atticus Finch decides that he will be Tom Robinson's lawyer.

Dec 22, 1934

Atticus Finch agrees to Judge Taylor's request for him to defend Tom Robinson in court when Judge Taylor comes to the Finches' house to disscus it.

Atticus shoots a mad dog

Dec 31, 1934

Atticus shoots Tim Johnson the mad dog which shocked Jem and Scout because they thought that their father was too old to do impressive things. Also, the kids learn that Atticus used to be called "One Shot Finch" when he was younger.

Jem ruins Mrs. Dubose's flowers

Jan 15, 1935

After cutting off Mrs. Dubose's Camellias, he is forced to read to hear everyday as a punishment.

Mrs. Dubose dies

Mar 15, 1935

After spending the last months of her life fighting off her morphine addiction, Mrs. Dubose passed away.

Tom Robinson Trial

May 15, 1935

During the trial, Jem and Scout sit in the colored balcony with Reverand Sykes while their father attempts to convince the jury that Tom is innocent. However, Tom is found guilty by the end of the trial.

Tom Robinson dies

May 15, 1935

Tom Robinson was found dead after being shot 17 times when attempting to escape from prison.

Bob Ewell dies; Boo Radley saves the children

Oct 31, 1935

After Scout's pageant, Jem and Scout are attacked by Bob Ewell while walking home. Seeing this, Boo Radley decided to step in and save the children from being murdered by Bob Ewell. Afterwards, Heck Tate investigated the crime scene, and Scout walked Boo back to his house.
