  • Scout Gets Left Out!

     Scout Gets Left Out!
    Scout begins to feel very left out because Jem and Dill grow much closer. They are very attached to eachother because they are both boys and very athletic. Scout is very upset about not being included because she feels that she has "just as much a right to stay in the yard" (61) as the boys do so she now goes to one of her other neighbors houses, Miss Maudie.
  • Who is Boo

    Who is Boo
    As the story goes Boo Radley was one troubled kid. When Scout first introduces Boo the readers got a taste of his medicine. Rumor has it, Boo's father imprisoned Boo in the basement for just about 15 years. Right after the punishment Boo killed his father, ever since the story got loose, the Finches and everyone else, have stayed away from his yard. It is said that "Boo drove the scissors into his parent's leg, pulled them out" brutally assaulting him. The problem is, the kids dont know him.
  • First Day of School

    First Day of School
    People always strive to be very smart and intelligent, but in Scout's school the objective is not to be smart, but to just get by. Even though, Scout is very smart she gets troubled for it. She is constantly hit and yelled at by the teacher for being smart. Miss Caroline thinks the cause of her being smart his her father, "You tell him I'll take over from here and try to do the damage." Miss Caroline always judges Scout for supposively being taught by her father.
  • Tree Findings.

    Tree Findings.
    One day walking home from school, Scout noticed a suspicious piece of tinfoil sticking out of the Bradley's tree whole. She traveled her way over to the tree to more findings. The findings were gum, wrappers, and gold coins. She was very pleased with the wad of gum and stuck it in her mouth. She went to brag to Jem, but Jem wasn't very pleased, "Spit it our right now"(45). Jem wenr on to say, "don't you know you're not supposed to even touch the trees over there? You'll get killed if you do!(45)
  • "Boo Radley Game"

    "Boo Radley Game"
    The Finches and Dill decide to play the "Boo Radley game", this game consists of Jem, Scout, and Dill attaching letters to the end of fishing poles to attempt at getting Boo to come outside. They continue to improve the game each and every time they play the game. They do this to meet Boo. They went through all this trouble to try to see Boo, "Dill and Jem were simply going to peep in the window with the loose shutter to see if they could get a look at Boo Radley."(69).
  • Scout and Walters altercations

    Scout and Walters altercations
    Scout has a very manly side to her. At school Scout beat Walter up for getting her into trouble. Scout's actions caused Walter to be upset, Walter's reaction urged Jem to invite Walter over for Dinner. At the table Walter unexpectingly and weirdly put Syrup on his food, "Walter poured syrup on his vegetables."(24). The syrup symbolized something odd and taught Scout and Jem the way to treat people right and not to point out ones differences.
  • Findings in the Knotwhole

    Findings in the Knotwhole
    Scout and Jem strangely find many things in the knotwhole. First off they found a grey twine that they claimed. Later on, they found two carved out pieces of soap, "one was the figure of a boy, the other wore a crude shirt."(80). The soap carvings mirrored Jem amd Scout. They went on to find gum, a spelling bee medal, and a pocket watch. That unfortunately would be the last time they see the knotwhole. Jem and Scout were told that they knotwhole was filled up because the tree was dying.
  • Rare Snow Event

    A very rare event happened in Maycomb, Alabama. It was so raret hat school was even closed due to the snow. "We had two weeks of the coldest weather since 1885."(63) Jem and Scout were so amazed that they took snow from their surrounding neighbors to attempt at making a snowman. Unfortunately there was not enough snow snow to make a snowman, so they made a snow figure out of dirt. They made the dirt figure to resemble Mr.Avery, who is an unpleasant man who lives down the street.
