During the Battle of Lake Erie, the Americans flagship was badly damaged. The General switched ships and continued to fight until the battle was over. Creek warriors attacked several southern settlements.

Jackson defeated the creeks. Andrew Jackson also took control of Georgia. Then a treaty was signed to end the battle.

The Star Spangled Banner was written on the back of an envolope. The song originated as a poem it became popular and was turned into a song. Later on it became the natoinal anthem.

The Hartford Convention suggested that the New England states withdraw from the United States. While delegates debated, news of the peace treaty arrived and the Hartford Convention was over.

The treaty of Ghent was the treaty that ended the war. News of the treaty took several weeks to reach thye United States. In that time, the two sides fought one more battle.

The last battle of the War of 1812. The Americans were victorious in this final battle in New Orleans.
