    America had felt good about themselves in the past months. Henry Clay and John .C Calhoun are one of the big nationalists. They were both eager to fight with Britian. New Englanders opposed to war against Britian because they thought that war with Britian would harm American trade.

On May 25th the British and the Americans both saw each other. 2 days later the British ere defeatedwith heavy losses!

    Native Americans suffered defeat in the south. In the summer creek warroirs attacked southern American settlements. American Andrew Jackson took command of American forces in Georgia. Jackson and his forces defeated the Creeks.

The British was held under Lieutenant General Sir Geoge Prevost and a naval squadrin under captain George Downie. The Brithish converged on the lakeside of town in Plattsburgh. Dwonie's squadron attacked but the Americans were defending the lakeside of the town and the Americans defeated Downie's squardon.

    The British wanted to attack our new Nation's Capital. The British set fire to a lot of things including the White House. The British now wanted to attack one of our forts, Fort McHenry, wich defeanded D.C.'s city harbors. British warships bombardedthe fort in the night of September 13, 1814.

    A young American, Francis Scott Key watcheed the British attack Fort McHenry. On the back of an old envelope , Key wrote a poem called "The Star-Spangled Banner". It told the story of the of the night's attack.The poem became popular and was made into music. In 1931 congress made the poem the national anthem of our country.

    The Treaty of Ghent was Britian getting tired of war. Britian had already started talking about peace in Belgium. On Christmas eve of 1814 America and Britian both sighned the Treaty. The treaty made things as it was before the war.

    A group of federalists met in Hartford, Conneticut. Some delegates suggested that New England states secede from the Untied States. While delegates debated, news of the peace treaty arrived. The Hartford Convention was quickly ended.

    The Battle of New Orleans started by Americans not getting the peace treaty from Britian until several weeks. While the treaty was on it's way, America was in battle with Britian.Britian wanted peace but the Americans didn't know about the treaty yet.The American foces in the war were lead by General Andrew Jackson. In January 1815, America and General Andrew Jackson won a stunning victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans.
