    In 1848 the German author Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto, a very important book in the eyes of future leaders of the USSR (including; Vladimir Lenin and Josef Stalin)
  • The Birth of Tzar Nicholas II

    The Birth of Tzar Nicholas II

    On May 18th 1868
    Tzar Nicholas the II was born,
    he was to replace his father once he was of proper age however his father's untimely death left him ill-prepared to rule the Motherland

    During the coronation of Tsar Nicholas II, massive groups of people swarmed the area, since the tsar was giving away free items, the resulting stampede ending with a death toll of over 1,300 trampled people the further degraded the Tsar's reputation and sparked the general hate towards the monarchy.

    The Russo-Japanese war was one of Russia biggest embarrassments, hoping for a quick and decisive victory to sway the people's opinion of of the Tzar back into the Tzar's favor, (Nationalism) what they received was a devastating loss resulting in giving Japan control of Korea and much of South Manchuria. Drastically decreasing their influence in the region, (on the bright side they didn't have to pay Japan's war costs)

    Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday was a terrible event that occurred when a sum of 150,000 peaceful protestors lead by the radical priest Georgy Apollonovich Gapon. The protest took place in St Petersburg and was meant to bring a signed petition to Tsar Nicholas II asking for a social and political reform. the peaceful protest was met with gunfire from the royal palace, resulting in the death of hundreds to thousands of peaceful protestors, this was the last straw for the people which led to its 1st revolution.

    Just coming off of the humiliating defeat at the hands of Japan during the Russo-Japanese War and the horrific Bloody Sunday, the Russian citizens had had enough, social and political chaos flooded the streets of Russia. This revolution was mostly unsuccessful due to a lack of leadership within the ranks of the Revolution itself, resulting in 12 more years of Tsar-ruled Russia. However the Revolution did form the State-Duma which they thought would help in the political struggle (it did not).

    In 1914 the first World War began, and safe to say the extremely underdeveloped Russia was not doing well, soldiers were being drafted without proper training, and sometimes even without weapons and they would have to pick up weapons from their dead comrades. Something needed to change or Mother Russia would be conquered
    by the Germans.

    This Revolution was successful unlike its predecessor, ignited by the Russian military's constant failures during ww1, but unlike the 1st revolution this one had a leader, Vladimir Lenin, a Russian politician a part of the group called the Bolsheviks. With his leadership the citizens (and military mutineers) marched on the palace and seized it, (The Tzar was fighting ww1), once he returned his generals and the mob forced him to advocate, ending the rule of the Tzar which stood for 500 years.
