    The army officials and many soldiers took a stand against Nicholas I. Because of the occurance in December, these rebels were referred to as Decembrists. The square it took place in was changed to Decembrist Square, but in 2008 it was changed back to it's original name.

    This war was centered in Europe. More than 9 million soldiers and 7 million citizens died as a result. Some countries joined the war to fight along with some other countries to form allies. The trigger to this war was the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

    This Czar was not ready to abdicate the throne, nor did he really want to. He was forced to do this after there was strikes in St. Petersburg (Petrograd back then). He was the last Czar of Russia.

Some of the children were carrying pounds of diamonds in their clothes, so that helped a bit to protect themselves from the bullets. But this did not protect them for long.
