    Fall of the Bastile
    The people of Paris, out of anger toward the rich nobility, stormed the Bastile releasing the prisoners. Riots began to break out in the villages, due to the lack of food eventhough the wealthy had more than they needed.

    End of the Ancien Regime
    On August fourth, the Ancien Regime was mostly abolished by the people of France. This was a system to collect taxes, but the people who could pay, the church and nobility, weren't. So France became bankruped and was one of the causes of the revolution.

    Bill of Rights
    Upset with the mounting injustices in their lives the lower class people of France gather to make a Bill of Rights. The Declaration to the Rights of Man and of the Citizens laid down the foundation of beliefs for the revolution.

    Angered at the lifestyle the nobility was living while the lower classes struggled to survive in squalor, a hord of peasant women marched on Versailles and invaded the palace. The terrifying group of women found the royal family and demanded they move to Paris to live near their people.

    A meeting was held to discuss what sort of government France should have in the future. The sides were torn, some want the same type of Monarchy France already had, but others wanted a Constitutional Monarchy where the kings power can from a document not from God, and some people wanted a full remake of the government into a Repubic.

    The royal family tries to flee
    The Royal family tried to escape from Paris to the bordering countries only to be brought back and be imprisoned. This event lead to the farther decrease in the families public appearance.

    On this day King Louis XVI was beheaded. His beheading marked the beginning of a time known as the Terror, because the revolutionaries believed, if you can behead a king, you can kill anyone.

    French flag was established
    The flag used by France today, was established as the national symbol on this date. The blue, white, and red were the symbols of the revolution and the ideas behind it.

    Fall of Robespierre
    Robespierre, one of the head men behind the revolution, was executed by the guillotine. He was seen by many as a traitor of the Revolution in the end of his life and was guillotined without a trial.

    The revolution officially ends and Napoleon Bonaparte becomes the first consol, holding the position of power in France. Napoleon and his family continue to govern France for many decades after becoming a dictator of the country.
