Chapter One: Wes Moore experiences the death of his father. The other Wes meets his alcoholic father. I lost my mother at age twenty. I have been close to people suffering from alcoholism.

Chapter Two: Wes becomes closer physically and emotionally to his grandmother and establishes a sense of home. The other Wes is unable to establish a sense of home and lives a life marked by incarceration. I was close to my grandmother. My parents moved several times but my grandmother's house was always the same.

Chapter Three: Wes is exposed to private school and his mother values his education. The other Wes has no intention of getting an education. I went to public school and attended a private university. I dropped out for a while but always had enough education to remain employable.
