There were economic and social problems, where many people were poor because they had to pay taxes for the army. Also, the empire was too big to defend. This is why when the Germanic tribes invaded, the fall of Rome occured.

The Bubonic Plague was a disease contributed to the decline to feudalism. When fleas fed on infected rats, and then jumped to humans, the people got infected. People got a fever, vomitting, fierce coughing and sneezing fits, and egg-sized swellings and bumps. It was also known as the Black Death due to blue and black spots on the skin of the diseased.
