Death of Louis XVI
After the royal family was arrested, Louis XVI was tried for crimes the people believed he had committed, and was sentenced to death. On his journey to the guilletine, he was accompanied by over 1,200 troops. On his arrival he was taken to the stage and beheaded. Marie was deeply saddened but would soon meet the same fate.
