Santa Anna's troops surround San Antonio. The Alamo was under attack for 12 days. On the 13th day Santa Anna and almost 2,000 men stormed the fortress, and at the end of the day only 7 Texans survived.

General Taylor and his force of 4,800 battled Santa Ana and his 15,000 mexican soldiers near Buena Vista. General Taylor's forces battled for 2 days until Santa Ana retreated.

Under this treaty Mexico recognized the Rio Grande as the border with Texas, and that Texas was part of the United States. Mexico also gave up the land that is currently California, Nevada, Utah, and most of Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
