    Peanuts eaten for the first time- IgE antibody is formed.

    The IgE attaches itself to mast cells found in the tissues in cells all over the body. The body is primed for that allergen if it enters the body again.

    You eat peanuts for the second time.

    The allergen binds to
    IgE antibodies and
    sends out signals for
    the body to release
    large amounts of histamine.

    Allergic symptoms begin inside the body and present themselves in outward and visible ways.

    In the case of a peanut allergy, you may experience itching,tingling or swelling round the mouth and throat. In extreme cases you could experience anaphylaxis and require a lifesaving epinephrine shot.
