Causes of the French Revolution
The French Revolution happened because England went bank rupt so prices of food were raised and the commoners were already poor and then they had to pay all the taxes so they got feriuos and tired of the treatment they were getting so they revolted

Absolute Monarchy
King Louis 16th and his wife Marie Antoinette spent a lot of money carlessly, England was already in debt from aiding the Americans in the American Revolution.

The 3 estates
The first estate was the Clergy, they had 1% of the population and 10% of the land; paid no texes. The second estate was the Nobility, they had 1-2% of the population and owned 30% of the land: paid no taxes. The third estate was the commoners, they had 98% of the population and owned 60% of the land; paid ALL the taxes.

Meeting of the Estates General
King Louis called the estates general together to decide what they were going to do about the bankrupt situation and the 1st and 2nd estate out voted the 3rd estate on who paid the taxes.

National Assembly
After the 3rd estate got out voted, they found it unfair so they stormed out and went to the meeting room next door, but King Louis locked there door so they went out to the tennis court and made the Tennnis Court Oah and the Declaration of Right of Men. These documents would stick up for the commoners.

Tennis court oath
All the members from the third estates went to there normal meeting room and when they got there they found that it was locked and gaurded. They were ferious so they went to the tennis court and they wouldnt quit until the new constituion

Attack on Bastille
When King Louis found out about the D.R.M, he had his army surround paris,the people revoluted and attacked the Castle of Bastille where the town kept all there gun poweder. The French Revolution has began.

D.R.M
The ideas of this were greatly off the American Revolution. They were the first step towards enlightment during the French Revolution.

Bread March
Many women walked 12 miles to Versailles. They were armed with swords, guns and spears. They wanted bread and the king to sign the D.R.M. Thousands to women broke through the gates at versailles and slaughtered the gaurds, then captured the king and queen forced them to sign the D.R.M after that they took all the food from the castle.

Royal Escape
The King and Queen have been on house arrest for 2 years, day by day the King keeps losing more and more power. One night they royal family escape from the castle and make it all the way to the Austria border but then are caught and brought back to Paris.

It was used to kill many people during the French Revolutin, it was a quick and easy death. It was made to behead peope with a clean cut at the neck.

He was put into a prison and blamed for high treason and since king louis tried to escape they wanted nothing to do with him so since they had no other need for King Louis

Reign of terror
If anybody would look like they were against the French Revolution or someone heard you say something bad about what the national assembly was thinking they would get killed. 40,000 people are killed durng this.

Resuts of French Revolution
They finally ended up getting rid of King Louis the 16th, and the royal family. They went into a demoncracy and got the freedom they deserved.
