    Marriage of King Louis and Marie Antoinette
    At the age of 15, King Louis married the 14 year old Archduchess of Austria to make the alliance between the two countries stronger. Their relationship was talked about alot because the Queen didnt have a child until 1777. People thought that King Louis had a sexual dysfuntion, but many believed that they werent attracted to eachother.

    The first cause of the French Revolution was that France was bankrupt. They spent alot of money when they were fighting in England. The second cause was the estate system. France was divided into three unfair social classes/estates.

    Creation of the National Assembly
    The National Assembly was created June 17th, 1789. That was also the date the first meeting was held. The National Assembly was different because it was composed by the people. They invited more people to join so everyone knew that they intended to control the nations affairs.

    Along with the DRM the National Assembly made the Tennis Court Oath. The oath was that the third estate would keep meeting until the DRM was created.

  • Attack on the Bastille

    Attack on the Bastille
    On July 14th, thousands of angry salesmen, and craftsmen decided to fight back and ran to steal weapons. They ended up getting 28,000 riffles but they had no gun powder.The Bastille symbolized the kings absolute power so they attacked it.

    Creation of the D.R.M
    The Declaration of rights of man was created August 26th 1789. The National Assembly set forth to protect the natural, inalienable,and sacred rights of man. They believed that all men are born free and remain free and equal in rights.

    King Louis responds to the DRM
    The National Assembly was constantly working on the Declaration of Rights of Man which made the King very upset. King Louis then had this army surround the city of Paris. The people of Paris freaked out and formed many Militias. The problem was they had plenty of guns but not enough gun powder.

    Bread March
    On October 5th, 1789 thousands of angry women marched 12 miles from Paris to Versailles. The women were armed with pitchforks, swords, muskets, pistols and lances. They attacked because they wanted food and wanted King Louis XVI to sign the DRM.

  • Results of the Bread March

    Results of the Bread March
    As a result of the Bread March, many guards were beheaded and their heads were put on pikes. King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were both captured and forced to sign the DRM. All the food at Versailles, and the King and Queen were brought to Paris. They would never see Versailles again, the family was put on house arrest.

    Royal Escape
    1791 marked the two years of the French Revolution. King Louis and his family were put on house arrest in Paris. The King continued to lose power because he was being forced to sign many laws that took away his power. The family decided to take the royal carriage and head for Austria. They made it to the border then they were found, captured and brought back to Paris.

  • The death of King Louis XVI

    The death of King Louis XVI
    King Louis XVI was beheaded becauses he was charged with foreign powers and he was then sentenced to death.Two months before his death proof of opposing revolution with Austria was found and he was put on trial. Nine months after his death, his wife was beheaded.

  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of Terror
    The French army was losing to the Austrian and Prussian. The Austrian and Prussian army got within 30 miles of Paris and Great Britain put a naval blockade on Frances ports. The National Assembly then began to kill anyone who was up against the French Revolution. 40,000+ people including the queen were sent to the Guillotine. The Reign of Terror ended with Robespierre being sent to the Guillotine.

  • The death of Marie Antoinette

    The death of Marie Antoinette
    In October of 1793 was put on trial for treason and theft. They even accused her of sexual abuse against her son. The trial lasted two days and she was then convicted by an all male jury. On October 16th she was sent to the guillotine. Marie Antoinette was the last queen of France.

  • Maximilien de Robespierre beheaded

    Maximilien de Robespierre beheaded
    Robespierre was overthrown and arrested by the National Convention. Before Robespierre was killed he encouraged execution especially by the Guillotine. Robespierre attempted suicide but failed and injured his jaw. On July 28th Robespierre along with 21 others were executed without a trial.

    Results/ End of the French Revolution
    One of the end results of the French Revolution was it put an end to the monarchy in Europe. Another result was the church lost most of its power and the people were given rights/freedom. The last result was there were no longer estates. The third estate gained alot and the first and second estate lost everything.

  • Napoleon Bonaparte comes to power

    Napoleon Bonaparte comes to power
    During the French Revolution Napoleon Bonaparte rose through the military ranks. Napoleon was the leader of the French Army in Italy and was considered one of the greatest generals of all time. In 1799 Napoleon had overthrown the French government and became dictator of France.
