Causes of the French Revolution
One cause of the French Revolution was that France was bankrupt froming fighting against England. The queen was also spending a ton of money. Another cause was bad harvests, which resulted in food shortages and higher prices. I used my notes and wikipeda. -
France is out of Money
The king was forced to call a meeting of the French Parliment in 1789 because France was out of money. Representatives from the three estates met at the Versailles palace with King Louis the sixteenth. They would vote on whether or not the first and second estates should pay taxes. Tennis Court Oath

Attack on the Bastille
King Lois the sixteenth had his army surround the city of Paris. The people were frightened and quickly formed local militias. They had plenty of guns but not enough gun powder. They had their supply of gun powder at the Bastille, so thousands of parisons attacked the fort and successfully retrieved the gun powder.This was the start of the French Revolution. Declaration of theRights of Men
The national assembly was forced to meet at a nearby tennis court when they were locked out of their meeting room.Their plan was to create a document with the rights the people should have.It is called the Declaration of the Rights of Men. I used my notes and wikipedia. -
Bread March
On October 5thof 1789, thousands of women marched the 12 miles from Paris to Versailles armed with broomsticks , lances, pitchforks, swords, pistols and muskets. They wanted food and for King Lois the sixteenth to sign the DRM. I used wikipedia and my notes. -
The Royal Escape
In 1791, the revolution had been going on for about 2 years. The royal family was undr house arrest in their palace and the national assembly kept forcing the king to sign law after law that took more and more power away from him. So one night the king and his family got in their royal carriage and tried to head for Austria , using the darkness as their cover. They made it right to the Austrian border when they were spotted and brought back to Paris. I used my notes and wikipedia. -
Death of KIng Louis the sixteenth
King Louis the sixteenth was convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers , and sentenced the death by the guillotine. He was executed on January 21st of 1793. I used www.history.com and my notes. -
Reign of Terror
When the war started, the French army was losing. The Austrian/ Prussian army had gotten within 30 miles of Paris and Great Britan had put a naval blockade on France's ports. The result was the national assembly started killing anyone who was against the revolution. 40,000 people including Marie Antoinette would be sent to the guillotine. The reign of terror would end with Maximillian Robespierre being sent to the guillotine. -
War
After the King was beheaded in 1793, Austria, Prussia, Spain, Portugal , Britain and the Dutch Republic declared war on France and invaded. If France lost this war, then the French Revolution would have been crushed and France's absolute monarchy would have been restroed. I used my notes. -

After the reign of terror, France went through several governments.France won the war against England/ Prussia/ Austria, and the revolution wasnt crushed.I used my notes and wikipedia. -
Napolean Bonaparte
Napolean Bonaparte rose through the military ranks during the revolution. He became leader of the French army in Italy. He led France in taking Egypt from Great Britain. He is considered one of the greatest generals in all of history. I used my notes and wikipedia. -
Results of the French Revolution
The French revolution resulted in the end to the monarchy in Europe. The church lost most of its power , and the people had rights and freedoms now. In France, there are no longer the three estates. By 1799 , Napolean overthrows the French government and becoes dictator of France. He leads his million man armyand takes most of Europe including Spain, Portugal, Holy Roman Empire, Prussia, Austrian Empire , Italian States , and German States.I used my notes and wikipedia. -
How Napolean Rules
When Napolean took over a country, he would put one of his family members in charge, and they ruled usiing Enlightenment ideas. Then, the revolution ideas and enlightenment ideas spread to that country.
