This meeting hasn't been called upon in over 150 years but this was King Louis XVI last hope. He needed to find a way to get France out of crippling debt. He called upon the three estates to help him with solving this problem. But as an Absolute Monarchy, it was always a two on one vote because the voting system worked like this; one vote per estate not one vote per person. This ended up making the third estate furious because they lost more than they had because they were always outvoted.
-
After the third estate stormed out of the meeting room because they got nothing out of that meeting, they were locked out by the King. They all got together in a nearby tennis court and made plans for the future of France and everyone in it.
-
The third estate took this Tennis Court Oath voting to "not be separated, and whenever its necessary, to come back to this meeting room. This will happen until the kingdom is established with constitution."
-
This was the beginning of the French Revolution. The men and women of the third estate stormed the prison searching for men and weapons. although thy only got seven more men and a bunch of guns this told the king "We are ready for anything and we won't give up until we are all dead, Viva la révolution!"
-
The National Constituent forced King Louis XVI to accept them, making the Absolute Monarchy a Constitutional Monarchy, ending the pain and bloodshed for every third estate member.
-
This is the date that turned the French Monarchy into Republicans.
-
King Louis was convicted, condemned, and was guillotined in the place de la Révolution, his wife and kids had the same fate nine months later.
-
This era was all about bloodshed and was declared by Robespierre. This was when if you had any second thoughts about the republic party or talked about the king in a sympathetic way, you'd get beheaded.
-
This all ended when Robespierre was arrested then beheaded, thus ending the Reign of Terror forever.
