The French Revolution

  • Storming The Bastille

    Storming The Bastille
This was when the citizens of Paris thought that the military was coming to stop The National Assembly or foreigners were coming to kill the people. So the citizens went and attacked a prison and took it over. I believe this was significant because this showed that the lower class was not scared of the upper class.
  • The National Assembly

    The National Assembly
The French lower class voted to establish the National Assembly in effect proclaiming the end of absolute monarchy and the beginning of representative government. I believe that this was important because this vote was the first deliberate act of the Revolution.

King Louis XVI and family try to escape France.
King Louis's advisers warned him to leave the country because he was in danger. As they got near the border they were caught and brought back to Paris and they eventually executed him. I believe that this is important because it shows how King Louis totally lost his power and shows how week he was as a king.
  • A Limited Monarchy

    A Limited Monarchy
This was when the new constitution was completed this constitution stripped most of the kings power and it created a new Legislative Assembly which had the power to create laws and many things. I believe that this is very important because this settled what the French people wanted.
