Peasants take control of the land, refuse to pay tax and destoy records of their obligations as well as burning the chateux of their lords. Lasted until August. -

The 3rd Estate created the National Assembly to demand a new constitution which outlined the organisation of the government in France. -
Attack on the Bastille Prison
The people attack the Bastille prison, capturing weapons and ammunition. They display the governer's head on a pike. -
The Vote to end Feudalism
The National Assembly votes to end feudalism. Privileged classes obey and give land to the peasants. -
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
The National Assembly accepts this declaration as a statement of its revolutionary goals. -
The Movement of the King and Family to Paris
Angered by bread shortages, the Parisian women march to Versailles and brings the King and his family back to Paris. -

This constitution demanded that bishops and priests be elected and that they swear loyalty to France first.
