  • Mier y Teran Report

    The Mier y Teran Report was a report commissioned by the Mexican government to investigate the conditions in North Texas. Gen.Manuel Mier y Teran report that there were more Anglo-Americans living in the area than Mexicans.The report also stated that colonists were ignoring the laws restricting slavery in Texas
  • The Fredonian Rebellion

    The Fredonian Rebellion was an effort by the Haden Edwards and his brother declaring that Mexico could no longer control their area (Nacogdoches). The rebellion was stopped by Stephen F. Austin.
  • Election of Santa Anna

    Santa Anna was the most known in the area so everyone was fond of him.In 1828, he used his military leadership to help a losing presidential candidate win the election. As a reward, Santa Anna was made the highest general in the land. The next year, he defeated the Spanish as they tried to recapture Mexico Santa Anna was elected president in 1833, winning by a landslide
  • Decree of April 6,1830

    The Law of April 6 was passed in response to the Mier y Teran Report. The law banned Anglo immigrants, canceled unfulfilled empresario grants, encourage Europeans immigrants, banned slavery, and imposed taxes on goods coming into Texas from the US.
  • Anahuac

  • The Arrest of Stephen F. Austin

    , Austin was arrested by the Mexican government in January 1834 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He was taken to Mexico City and imprisoned. No charges were filed against him as no court would take jurisdiction. He was accused of treason because he wrote a letter,prior to his meeting with Santa Anna ecoraging Texans to form their own govenment without mexico.
  • The Consultation

    The Consultation served as the provisional government of Mexican Texas from November 1835 to March 1836 during the Texas Revolution. Tensions rose in Texas during early 1835 as throughout Mexico federalists began to oppose the increasingly centralist policies of the government.
