Chapter 1-3
In these chapters, it explans more about Dawson who is the main character. He works on a oil rig in Louisianna and is heading back to his hometown of Oriental, North Carolina for a funeral of the man who housed him as a boy, Tuck. Amanda is the girl he fell in love with in high school. They split up and are seeing each other for the frst time in many years. They both still have a place for one another in their hearts. -
Chapter 3-5
In these chapters, Dawson returns back to his hometown of Oriental, North Carolina and with it comes a lot of memories. He goes to his friends Tucks house who has just past away and finds his ex-love Amanda standng in the garage. They are very shocked to see each other and have small talk about their lives. -
Chapter 5-8
In these chapters, Dawson and Amanda have dinner in Tuck's house and chat about the past and about how they were in love. After that, Dawson goes to his hotel and Amanda heads to her mother's house. That next morning, Dawson buys flowers and goes to the cemetary. He puts them on Dr. David Bonner's grave because Dawson accidently killed him with his car as a young kid. They go to a meeting and Tuck wants them to spread his ashes. After the meeting, they go to dinner with each other. -
Chapter 8-11
In these chapters, Dawson is working on a Stingray car that Tuck was trying to finish before he died. He hears something outside and finds Ted, his brother. He is hiding behind a tree because he is trying to kill Dawson. Dawson over powers him though and sends Ted to the hospitol. The next day, Amanda and Dawson drive the Stingray to the spot where Tuck wanted his ashes to be spread. -
Chapter 12-14
In these chapters, Dawson and Amanda drive to an office to get letters that Tuck wrote them. They return to Tucks house where they read the letters. They talk about how Tuck went into the Navy and how much he missed his wife. The letter also says that love can make anything happen. Amanda and Dawson spread his ashes. They go to a cottage and kiss for the first time in many years. What they don't know is that Ted is waiting back at Tuck's house so he can try to kill Dawson again. -
Chapter 15-16
In these chapters, Dawson and Amanda pull up to Tuck's house and see Amanda's mother standing next to her car. Finally, Amanda has to talk to her mother about what happened over the weekend and also what path she shouls take that will guide the rest of her life. She ultimately chooses to go back to her husband Frank eventhough what she really wants is to be with Dawson. Amanda can't think about tearing her family apart just so that she can be happy. -
Chapter 17-18
In these chapters, Dawson goes to the cemetary to put flowers on Dr. Bonner's grave and where Mrs. Bonner is waiting for him. She tells him to forgive himself for what he did in the past. Meanwhile, Amanda packs her things and begins to drive home. She almost immediately changes course and heads to Tuck's house so that she can tell him she has chosen him. What they don't know is that Abee is already at Tuck's destroying the house. -
Chapter 19-21
Dawson wakes up and goes to Tuck's house eventhough he knows Ted and Abee are looking for Dawson. Meanwhile, Amanda is home but has to go to the hospitol because her son is admitted there with something wrong with his heart. Amanda finds out that without a heart transplant Jared will die. Dawson was back in Oriental when he heard loud noises coming from a bar. He finds Ted and Abee beating up a man and Dawson helps him. As he is carrying the man out of the building Ted shoots him in the head. -
Chapter 22-24
Amandas son gets a doner that matches and it is one in a million. Amanda is overcome with joy when she finds out the news. Jared gets the heart transplant and it goes well. Amanda then gets a call from Tanner Bonner and she tells Amanda that Dawson was shot in the head and past away last night.
