    In 1521, in a brutal struggle to be be alive, Cortes and his Indian allies captured and demolished Tenochtitlan. It was a battle with a lot of killings.

    In the Mid-1500 treasure fleets sailed each year to Spain or the Spanish Philippines loaded with gold and silver. This wealth caused a lot of controversy with the wealthy and the poor.

    Tons of silver from the Potosi region of Peru and Bolivia filled Spanish treasure ships and with this wealth Spain became Europe's greatest source of money and power. Europe used these as things to trade and swap for other things they needed or wanted.
