The Atomic Theory

    Democritus

Democritus, a Greek philosopher of the 5th century, came up with the original idea of the atom. He theorized that if you continuously cut a stone in half, you would eventually reach a point where you could no longer split the stone. The stone that could no longer be separated was called "atomos." This theory, however, was reected by Aristotle, and pushed to the side.
