    In the city of Gonzales previous years before Mexican officials had “gifted” the colonist canons to help protect settlers from Indian attacks
    Santa Anna sent mexican soldiers to retrieve the canons.
    Texas refused to give up the canon.
    Come up with the “Come and Take it” Flag.
    As the rebels approached the Mexican camp ,the nervous Mexicans open fire. The Texans shot back.
    Texans fire the cannon at the mexican soldiers thus begins the war and known as the 1st battle. “The Lexington of Texas”

    February 24, MX forces began firing on the Alamo.
    On the second day of the Siege William B Travis’s wrote a desperately wrote a plea to aid as death was certain.
    Canons would go on for hours at a time. In the early Morning hours of March 6 MX soldiers attacked gaining access in the walls of the Alamo.
    When all was done only a few civilians had survived

    As the Alamo was falling official Declaration of Independence on March 2nd, 1836.
    59 men signed the Declaration (56 Anglos, and 2 Tejanos)
    The Republic of Texas is now born.
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    Battle of San Jacinto

    April 26th, 1836
    Santa Anna’s 1300 men are camped out beyond the San Jacinto River
    Houston’s 800 men surprise attack middle affertoon.
    This battle is the last battle of the Revolution, a victory for the Texans, and only lasted 18 minutes. Santa Anna is found after he ran from the battle. He is captured and surrenders. Santa Anna is forced to sign the Treaty of Velasco that ends the war.

    in the battle of coleto (near goliad) fannin was stuck in open field surrounded by enemy forces and there was an inevitable defeat so fannin surrendered although santa anna still requested the 400 texans be executed therefore-the goliad massacre,then it became a rally cry saying ¨remember the goliad¨
