Deciding (Part 1)
We had to decide on a genre and a type of category, we decided whether we wanted to do a high school drama or a youth drama, we thought that doing a youth drama was what everyone else was doing therefore we wanted to pick high school drama, although this meant our quality of filming had to be better for example no shakiness for the camera and the editing had to be spot on, we decided to do this instead, we also thought that high school drama was more suitable for us for example most Youth ... -
Deciding (Part 2)
...Drama's are about the streets and about gang life and crime and an independent film however we wanted ours to be based in a school therefore we decided on High School Drama, we then decided what genre, for example whether we wanted a horror or thriller we decided to have a romcom. -
Planning
We then decided on our story, what we wanted to happen we decided to have stereotypical groups of nerds and popular teenagers and make one from each group have a romantic relationship, we then decided who would play what role, this was easy to decide and some didn't want to be the main characters whilst some did. We decided that Valerie and I would play as the geeks and that Bilal and Martyna would play as the popular kids we wanted to show this through clothing and actions. -
The Pitch
We then presented to the class our pitch and storyboard, what we wanted who we were influenced by and who would produce and distribute our company, our pitch got a 9/10. We showed them when where and how we will be filming this could go either way as we had 4/5 different locations. We then got feedback from our teacher and peers which helped us think of what we could improve. -
Filming
We started filming the first scenes in Valerie's House, this was of Valerie's character and Martyna's character. We filmed Valerie on the couch and Martyna on Valerie's bed and in her kitchen, however the shots of Valerie we're not as good as we would of liked them to be, some were shakey because we used the fig rig and when we filmed it was really dark but it's supposed to be the morning. So we had to refilm her shots. -
More filming
We then filmed my shots in Martyna's house, we used her bedroom and kitchen as well and the front of her house, however due to our ND filter being on we realized that the shots were too dark however it was too late when we realized and we had to re film my shots again. -
More filming
We then filmed Bilals shots in my own house these shots were really good however once again these shots were too dark and had to be reshot however although we ended up refilming this later on we did still end up using these shots. We then re filmed my shots in Martyna's house again but this time it was still too dark, we then decided that maybe we just didn't have enough lighting and changed location to my own bedroom and we shot my final scenes in my own bedroom. -
More filming
We then reshot Bilal's scenes in Martyna's house the same day as mine however these were also dark and we just decided to use the shots at my house of Bilal waking up and washing his face and him getting ready and leaving would be the shots from Martyna's house. We also refilmed Valerie's scenes in my own house on the sofa these were great as well since we had a lot of light and took it in the morning. -
School Filming
We first originally had decided to film in Park View (Bilal's old secondary school) however they weren't happy with us using the school and had a lot of requests for us, we didn't have time to go through a long process like that and decided to use Martyna's secondary school, we shot the scenes in this school and they were good however we realized that the camera was out of focus however we thought that this was good because the school was really old and broken down and we wanted a more modern .. -
School Scenes
...school therefore we chose to use my school since it was newly built and is very big. This was a great success because it was focused and bright we now knew at this point to check everything over and over and rewatch to see if it looks out of focus. At this point we had finished all our filming. -
Editing
We then started editing firstly making a roughcut to see where we wanted our scenes to go, which character needed to go where etc. Our first roughcut wasn't great because we had the shots that we needed to refilm, however once refilmed we added in the new shots it started to take shape, my team mates Martyna and Valerie made the ident by themselves which turned out to be really good we decided not to use Paramount PIctures as this would be copying instead we made our own big budget company. -
More editing
We started to cut down some scenes to make it short and snappy and we decided to fasten up or slow down some bits for example, Valerie waking up was too long so we had to make it faster. We started adding transitions and then made our titles on Imotion and added them on one by one. -
Music
We then searched for music to add onto our title sequence, we first wanted to use a soundtrack from Devil Wears Prada but due to copyright issues we couldn't use it so we decided to search for music this didn't take us as long to find because we knew exactly what kind of music we wanted and as soon as we found it we added it onto our title sequence, since our track was exactly the same amount we didn't need to cut it or make it longer and we also created sound for our production companies.
