Swallowing Stones

  • Chapter 1

    Michael went out and bought PVC pipe to store the gun in so it doesn't get damaged when he puts it in the three-foot-deep trench.This shows that he does not want to get rid of the gun otherwise he would just dump it in a lake or dispose of it for good. The gun has significance to Michael so he wants it to be gone but just not forever.
  • Chapter 1

    Michael shows off his Windchester he got from his grandfather as a gift to Joe,his bestfriend but right before his drivers test the two of them heard news on the radio about a killing in Briarwood. A man was hit by a bullet out of no where coming from the sky and Michael suspected that it could have been him. His friend Joe is pretty laid back and says that if he admits to commiting the crime then he can kiss his fancy colleges away.Michael's gut feeling is that he comitted the crime.
  • Chapter 2

    Charlie Ward's death makes it to national news and the police cordoned off the area around the Ward's residence but what is suspicious as a reader is why the Ward's still slept there that night because there house is technically a crime scene.
  • Chapter 2

    The Ward family was told by Cheif Zelenski that the engineers from Picatinny Arsenal would narrow down where the bullet came from. It was for sure to get done but the cheif could not seem to get an estimate to when it would get done so it put Mrs. Ward and Jenna in major distress.
  • Chapter 3

    Michael saw Jenna Ward's helpless face in the newpaper and could not stop looking into it and reading each and every detail there was. He was feeling very guilty and wanted to allieviate Jenna's pain by telling her it was an accident but it all seemed so meanigless.
  • Chapter 3

    First "swallowing stone" reference. Michael related to his situation by having a future and doing what he needed to do to survive unlike the girl who inhaled the stone and panicked and her future was ended.
  • Chapter 4

    Michael went to the libary to find out more about the Ward's case so he was always one step ahead of the police. He read all that he could including all the accounts in all the papers from the past 2 days.
  • Chapter 4

    Michael does not want to go to this party that Darcy obviously wants to attend but he goes anyways. The whole night he just wants to do nothing but go home. This is the first indirect sign of Mike's second guessing his feelings for Darcy.
  • Chapter 5

    Michael's family talked about the Ward case at meals and he could not stand to speculate it anymore so he skipped some meals with the family and managed on his own. He needed a reason so he added he was spending the night at Joe's. After he got some food in his system he walked and walked and ended up at Jenna Ward's house. He sat by her house and wondered about her alot. He wondered if her and her family belonged to the community pool or where they might spent their summers.
