    He's from England, and sailed toward Texas. He sailed along the Texas coast, and mapped it. This made him become the first person to make maps and charts.

  • La Salle

    Made a daring journey down the Mississippi River, and claimed "Louisiana" for France. Wanting to establish a colony before the Spanish got there,in 1684, the French King, LouisXIV gave La Salle ships and colonists to set sail. But he missed the Mississippi River, and landed near Matagoraa Bay, Texas. While there, he set up Fort St. Louis in 1685.
