After this happened, many Greeks went over to Rome to teach about Philosophy and entertain them withh plays, and many Romans went over to Greece to go to the great colleges and schools. In the end, it worked out okay even though the Greeks were not happy about it at the start. This event is very significant because it chose the path for the fuuture of Greece.

    Alexander the Great expands Greece

    Alexander the Great expands Greece
From 333 BCE to 323 BCE, Alexander the Great expanded the territory of Greece immensley. He took the land from the Greek mainland to the present day Afghanistan. He started doing this at the age of 22! He died at the age of 32 in 323 BCE. I chose this event because the world might have had more countries, states and cities if Alexander hadn't expanded Greece.

    The Trojan War

    The Trojan War
The Trojan occurred around 1250 BCE. This war occurred when the Spartans went to Troy to get back Queen Helen of Sparta after the Prince of Troy, Paris, had kidnapped her. They got into Troy by hiding in a giant wooden horse and tricking the Trojan guards into letting them in, by the guards pulling the wooden horse into the gates of Troy. The Trojan war is very important because it signifies the bond between all of Greece because they all worked together to get back one of thier Royals.
  • Athens becomes a Democracy

    Athens becomes a Democracy
In around 508 BCE, Athens becomes a democracy, but with a very slow process. In 594 BCE, a man named Solon was elected into the archon position. During this time, a lot of farmers were in debt to tax collectors whose prices were very high and hard to pay, and most of those farmers were forced into slavery to pay off those massive debts. Solon got rid of all those debts and made a fairer system. He made a council of around 400 people from all groups of Athenians except the poorest. Go to part 2 >
  • Thermopalye

    Thermopalye
The fisrt Persian battle was called Thermopylae. This battle faught when the spartans had approxmaatley 300 men and the Greeks around 7,000 against the Persians' 100,000 to 300,000 men. The Greeks and Spartans won. I choose this event and it is significant because it was the first battlle in a war, and it was won by the Greeks when they had hardllly any men compared to the Persians.
  • Salamis

    Salamis
The Second Persain war was called the Battle of Salamis. This war was faught because the Persians wanted to take over Greece, but the Greeks didn't agree with that so they faught back. The Greeks won in the end. This event is important because it is a very large part of history being the battle that Greece almost lost thier country to.
  • Athens Democracy Part 2

    Athens Democracy Part 2
This allowed all free men to participaate in decision making and government of Athens. I chose this event because if Athens didn't becpome a democracy, many countires would be ruled bgy someone other than a king/queen from thier country.
