Percy returns to camp and finds that the magical borders have disappeared. Chiron, the camp director has been suspended from camp as he is suspected to have made an attack on Thalia's tree. This is what made the borders of the camp disappear. The new camp director is Tantalus who is unfair, annoying and won't let Percy get a quest.

Percy is at camp and is asking for help from Poseidon. He wants to get a quest and find Grover. During a dinner, Percy's friend Tyson is claimed by Poseidon. He is a cyclopes. Percy was angry and happy. On one had he was happy to have the kind Cyclopes as his brother. On the other, he was mad because Percy thought Poseidon was trying to embarrass the demigod.

Percy is chilling on the sea side when a man in jogging shorts appears. He sits down with Percy and they talk about how Percy is not getting a quest. He also tells him that family is important. Finally, the reveals himself to Percy as Hemes. Hemes wants Percy to bring back Luke. The god arranges everything for their quest to find Grover.

Percy gets onto the Princess Andromenda, a ship arranged by Hermes for Percy's quest. The ship seems very empty. In the morning, there were many monsters and people looking hypnotized. Finally the main heroes meet Luke. He told them that Kronos is reforming in a special coffin. Every person the get on Luke's side will allow one more piece of Kronos to enter the coffin and join the body.

Percy finds the land of the Cyclopes where Grover and the golden fleece is kept. Percy and Annabeth get past the security and animals when they found Clarisse facing the monster. However, she too became trapped so Annabeth came up with a plan. She was going to distract the monster while Percy saved the other. This plan worked and they all got away.

When arriving at Florida, Percy decided to give the fleece to Clarisse as she deserved some glory. A little later, when Clarisse was gone, Percy and his friends were caught by Luke. He wanted the fleece but was angry that it was gone. He battle Percy but just then Chiron and his centaur friends arrived and saved Percy and his friends.
