  • There's a Hair In My Dirt

There's a Hair In My Dirt
Today I learned more about different animals and how they effect food webs. I learned that if we just let nature run its course, then it will work itself out most of the time. Food webs are really important to us also, not just the environment. I also learned not to trust your neighborhood lumberjack, and to stay away from mice.
  • Biotic/Abiotic Factors

    Biotic/Abiotic Factors
Biotic factors are living things that effect an environment. Like animals, hair, and corpses. Abiotic factors or non-living things that effect an environment. Like, rocks, temperature, wind, rain, water, etc.
  • Venn Diagram 2

I learned more about abiotic and biotic factors.
  • Trophic Levels

Trophic levels are when an organism loses 90% of its energy. Plants, or producers, only use 10% of what's available, Primary consumers only use 10% of what the plants use, and secondary consumers only use 10% of what the primary consumers use.
  • Planet Earth movie

I learned a lot about the mountains ecosystem and different animals in the ecosystem and what they need to survive.
  • Population

I learned more about how limiting factors work. I learned about how much space each person has in the classrooom, and it isn't that much.
  • Earth's Resources

I learned more about how much we use Earth's resources and how we can all do more to protect the environment. We use gas, heat, air conditioning, running water, discard trash into the environment, and even eating meat and other foods. It's important that we all do our part to conserve the environment.
  • Spore Creature

Today I learned what a niche is, even though I'd already learned it before. I just forgot it, and now it will be stuck in my head forever. I learned about an organism's role in an ecosystem.
  • Planet Earth Oceans

Today I learned a lot about certain organisms in the ocean. I saw the we should all be aware of our planet and that we need to try to save the species that are endangered under the sea. It was a really cool movie.
  • Gummi Bears

Today I learned a lot about an ecosystem being in balance, and that it's going to fall apart and get back together again, but it's something it just goes through. I really learned a lot with this presentation-thingy.
  • Energy in an Organism

I learned about how much energy an organism has. Like fish only have 8 jueles (?) per square meter and some plants and other animals we eat have thousands of jueles (?) per square meter. I learned that resources can be a limiting factor, and there are things you cna grow that will supply more energy than other things.
  • From Land to Mouth

I learned a lot about how much energy an organism has and what's most efficient to grow.
  • From Land to Mouth continued

Today I learned that sugar cane is the most efficient thing to grow. I also learned that if you are trying to get the most energy out of your food, you should eat plants because there is another level you have to go through where it loses 90% of its energy again.
  • Physical Properties 1

With my group I classified it into shiny and not shiny and man-made and not man-made. I learned about physical properties today.
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

The object I chose was our textbook. The chemical properties of it that I found were it is flammable and it decomposes. I couldn't find anything else. :)
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

Windiness is a physical property because it can change back to being not windy really easily.
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

You can tell what chemical properties something has by observing the chemical change.
  • Phase Changes

I learned that phase changing is a type of phsyical change. It is when it goes from solid, to a liquid, to a gas. I also learned that physical changes can be reversesd.
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

You can tell the difference between a gaseous physical change and a gaseous chemical change by the number of substances (chemical changes combine 2 substances), color change, smell, etc.
  • Chemical and Physical Properties

Today I learned how different substances react with eachother and the properties of different substances.
  • Atoms

I learned a lot about how atoms work and a bunch of random stuff like that scientists are crazy, British people like plum pudding, and stuff that has to do with the topic. Like, electrons move really fast, and if you take shots of them with a special camera or whatever, then everywhere you go it will be there.
  • Atomic Structure

In order to make a positive ion, you must have less electrons.
  • Atomic Structure

In order to have a positive ion you must have less electrons than neutrons.
  • Ions and Isotopes

Protons and electrons determine an ion because ions are charged atoms, and protons and electrons have charges. Neutrons determine an isotope because it doesn't doo anything to the atom besides make the mass bigger, which is what an isotope is.
  • Periodic Table

    Periodic Table
The columns on the periodic table represnt the elements that have similar chemical properties, and they also have a similar set-up of electrons on the shells. The rows mean the number of shells the atom has orbiting it.
