Russo- Japanese War
Japan wanted korea to be a part of japans spheres of influence and Russia would not let that happen so Japan declared war on Russia. This battle was not very long and it had a very clear decisive victory by the Japanesse. Japan won this battle over Russia and showed how strong their military really was, even though they were a much smaller country than Russia. -
Bloody Sunday
This event happened when a group of unarmed workers, lead by priests, protested at the winter palace. All they wanted was to discus with the czar about having better working conditions. But the czar didn't want to talk with the people so he let the military do what they thought was best to solve the situation. The the military thought it would be best to fire on the peasant workers so they did that. And many people ended up dying from this event. -
Revolution of 1905
This revolution was aimed at problems with working, education, and nationality. Russia needed to be fixed and fast because it was falling apart. In the end the revolution ended up gaining a limited consitutional monarchy and the state duma of the Russian empire. -
Creation of the Duma
The Duma was created to have the different states of russia discuss problems and fix them together. This was not a very fair assembly because all members were hand picked by the czar so he really ended up having total control of the Duma. -
March Revolution Begins
Happened because of riotingand strikes in St. Petersburg, and food shortages all over russia. At this time the czar had been thrown out of power and the Duma was left alone so they made their own government called the provisional government. -

Vladimir Lenin once a member of the Bolshevik took power after throwing the provisional government out of power in the october revolution. He ruled as a communist leader and followed some marxist aspects of ruling the government. -

Russia enters WWI after Austria declared war on Serbia. this was an extremely grusome battle with very many casualties. The war exposed how weak russia was and that their only strength was the number of people russia had and would send out into war. -
Assassination of Romanov Family
The Romanov Familys was put under house arrest by the provisional government and sent to live in a house in the country. The family was told they would be safer here, but then one day the family was lead to the basement thinking they were being moved to another house. When the guards suddenly came in and shot the entire Romanov family in seconds. -

Stalin comes to Power
Joseph Stalin was a very extreme Bolshevik revolutionarie who took part in the Russia Revolution. He also took military leadership in the Russian civil war. This helped him acheive a high position in the government, and once he became in charge everything changed. He ruled by totalitarism and was the most highly respected man at the time and evryone had to love him because the was the almighty ruler of the soviet union, plus he ruled by fear so no matter what you had to like him. -
Russia becomes a Totalitarian State
When russia becomes a totalitarism state the government ends up controling everything. The government controls how you think, act, work and live.There is no freedom and you must do what you are told to do because the government is always watching you, big brother, if you dont do what the government says then you will be punished. In this kind of government you are ruled by fear. -
