    Reign of Czar Alexander III

    The father of Czar Nicholas and former Czar of Russia, was an anti-Semite and he had also ignored the working class including the peasants, and promoted nobility. His goals were autocracy(absolute rule), orthodoxy (one religion), and national homogeneity (one race). Known as the "Official Nationality".

    Reign of Czar Nicholas II

    He was the last member of the Czar before the monarchy collapsed, he was unable to rule and believed only political power should exist in the hands of Russia's monarchy and rejected democracy. When people tried to express their feelings he made his soldiers kill them (Bloody Sunday). Everyone was unhappy with how he ruled, his people, advisors, and nobles. He kept fighting in WW1 which ruined the Russian economy and established the Duma but was ineffective.

    Russo-Japanese War

    A war between Russia and Japan, Russia and Japan found themselves in competition over territory in northern China, and mounting tensions ultimately resulted in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 Japan won the war because they supplied more ground troops and their naval forces secured the sea. Russians were embarrassed and they blamed Nicholas.
  • Establishment of the Duma

    A type of government that would turn the monarchy into a constitutional monarchy, Czar Nicholas had made this ineffective which made nobles question his ability to rule.
  • Bloody Sunday

    A time when Czar Nicholas kills his own people, Russians wanted to present Czar Nicholas with a list of grievances and to demand relief from their working and living conditions. The police opened fired and around 100 people were killed and 3,000 were injured. This triggers the revolution against the Czar.

    It caused inflation in Russia from the war costs causing a lot of people to rebel against the government in the Bolshevik Revolution.
  • Death of Rasputin

    Rasputin was an uneducated peasant thought to be an exorcist and healer. His influence in Russia is said to contribute to the collapse of Czar Nicholas II and the Russian Revolution. The royal family kept him around as he made Alexi’s sufferings from hemophilia not as bad. Others didn’t want him ruling and they blamed Nicholas. He was assassinated by nobles as they didn’t want him influencing the government.

    Rise of Lenin and Bolshevik Revolution (also called October Revolution)

    He was the first revolutionary leader of the Bolshevik and was behind Russian communism. He supported Marxism and communism. HIs beliefs gained support through publication of newspapers while the Czar started to diminish.

    where Czar Nicholas gives up his throne, a provisional or temporary government was set up in place. He gave it up because people are upset at him and it was shown by large-sale violence.

    It was war between white army, anit-revolutionaries, and allies against the red army. The red army wants to protect revolution communism. While the white army wants to stop communism. In the end, red army wins.
  • Establishment of USSR

    Societ Union is formed, due to the red army winning the civil war.
  • Lenin's Death

    Where the leader of the Soviet Union dies and faces a dilemma on who should rule next. Either between Joesph Stalin and Leon Trotsky. He preferred that Trotsky rules after him.

    Stalin's rise to power

    He was the leader of the Communist Party. He got rid of all the threats and then he had full power as a dictator. Since he had full power of all of Russia it led to corruption in the government. and a loss of freedom for the people as they had to give up grains and seeds to the government.
  • Leon Trotsky's exhile

    Leon Trotsky was Stalin's opponent for power and with him gone Stalin could become dictator. Once he was exhiled Stalin gained all the power over Russia and turned it into a dictatorship.
